Lake City Casino Vernon and its owner

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited runs Lake City Casino Vernon. It is one of eight casinos in this guide that Gateway runs, four in Metro Vancouver and four in the Thompson-Okanagan. Gateway describes itself as the exclusive casino operator in the Thompson Okanagan region.

The purchase that put the Vernon casino in Gateway's hands is dated August 2002. That month Gateway bought the Lake City Casinos in Penticton, Kelowna, Kamloops and Vernon. In 2009 the casino moved into its current 30,000 sq ft building on Anderson Way.

In British Columbia, BCLC conducts and manages casino gambling, and private companies run the casinos. On this site "runs" names the operating company, and "owns" appears only where an owner or a sale is published. No later sale of the Vernon casino is published. The record for the Vernon casino starts with a purchase, not an opening. In August 2002 Gateway bought the Lake City Casinos in Penticton, Kelowna, Kamloops and Vernon.

In 2009 the casino moved into a 30,000 sq ft building on Anderson Way, three times the size of the old casino. The Kelowna casino from the same purchase took the name Playtime Casino Kelowna on March 1, 2018.

Since January 2025 four casinos in this guide have passed to First Nations ownership, and sales of two more have been agreed. Lake City Casino Vernon is not among those six. Gateway runs it, along with seven other casinos in this guide.

Hours at Lake City Casino Vernon are in Pacific time: Sunday to Thursday 10 AM to 12 AM, and Friday and Saturday 10 AM to 2 AM. Holiday hours should be checked on the casino's own site.

The floor has more than 400 slots. Live tables open at 5:15 PM on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and at 4:15 PM on Friday and Saturday. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Poker is Texas Hold'em, with a buy-in of $100 to $500, from 6 PM Wednesday to Saturday and from 5:15 PM on Sunday.
