About this guide
How casino ownership is traced
Every owner, operator and date on Whose Room comes from a dated record checked on October 7 and 8, 2026. Where a casino publishes no owner, the guide says so and leaves the name out.
By the Ledger Desk · Checked October 7 and 8, 2026
Where the record comes from
The record behind each page draws on three kinds of source. The casinos' own pages give addresses, hours, games and names. News releases from operators and owners give sales, purchases and closing dates, each with its date. Provincial sources cover the rules that apply in every room.
All of it was checked on October 7 and 8, 2026.
Each fact on the site keeps the source it came from, along with that source's date. A sale is shown as closed once a release records the closing. Where two of a casino's pages disagree on a figure, the guide leaves the figure out.
What the words mean here
In British Columbia, BCLC conducts and manages casino gambling, and private service providers run the casinos. On this site, "runs" names the company that operates a casino. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment and Great Canadian Entertainment are described this way.
"Owns" appears where an owner or a sale is published, and nowhere else.
"Agreed" marks a signed sale, given with its buyer, date and seller. Hastings Casino and Elements Casino Surrey are both given this way. The buyers are named as buyers, not owners.
What the record leaves out
Parq Casino names no owner and no operating company on its own pages. Its privacy policy names "Parq", acting on behalf of BCLC, and nothing more. The latest dated ownership record found for Parq is from 2019, so the current owner is not named here.
RimRock Casino in Port Alberni says it is governed by BCLC policies under IGCO oversight. Its pages name no operating company. It is also absent from Gateway's list of properties.
One level up, the trail stops. Gateway and Great Canadian appear as the companies that run casinos. Who owns those companies is not traced on this site.
Not published
- Parq Casino Owner and operator not named on its pages; latest dated record 2019
- RimRock Casino Operating company not named on its pages
Distances and hours
Distances are straight lines between OpenStreetMap points, computed by the guide. They are not driving distances. No travel times are given.
Hours appear in Pacific local time, as each casino publishes them, laid out as one week from Monday. British Columbia stays on Pacific time all year. The last clock change was on March 8, 2026. Holidays and temporary changes are not covered, so holiday hours should be checked on the casino's own site.
Questions
Why is Parq's owner missing from the site?
Parq's own pages name no owner or operating company. Its privacy policy names "Parq", acting on behalf of BCLC. The latest dated ownership record found is from 2019, so the guide leaves the current owner unnamed.
What does "agreed" mean on the graph?
It marks a signed sale, and that link is drawn dashed.
Are the distances on this site driving distances?
Distances here are not driving distances. Each is a straight line between two OpenStreetMap points, computed by the guide. The site gives no travel times.
